Customs Duty on Importing Potatoes Has Been Reset



Following the increase in potato prices, the customs duty on imports of potatoes was reduced to zero with the decision of the President. Imports will be limited to 200 thousand tons. According to the February inflation figures, the potato price increased by 6.7 percent year-on-year to 135.1 percent.

With the President's decision published in the Official Gazette, the customs tariff position of potatoes in the quota and tariff quota was changed.

According to the decision, until April 20, 2019 the customs duty on potatoes other than sweet potato was reset. The tariff quota for the import of customs-exempt potatoes was limited to 200 thousand tons.

According to the inflation figures announced in February, the price of potatoes increased 6.7 percent a month. The annual increase in potato was 135.1 percent.
